LockTrace started from a simple problem that most field guys don’t like admitting has happened before: leaving a LOTO lock behind on a job.
After a long day of troubleshooting, commissioning, or jumping between panels, it only takes one missed lock to turn into a phone call, a return trip, or a delay for the crew. It doesn’t happen every day, but when it does, it’s frustrating.
LockTrace was built as a simple fix for that problem.
It’s a removable shell that slides over a standard LOTO padlock and holds an AirTag inside, giving the lock owner a way to track their lock without modifying it or interfering with how it works.
The lock still operates normally. The shackle, keyway, and locking mechanism stay untouched. LockTrace is just an added layer of peace of mind for field service techs, electricians, contractors, maintenance crews, apprentices, foremen, and anyone else who works around lockout/tagout in the field.
This isn’t some overcomplicated “smart lock” system. It’s a small, practical tool built by a field tech who wanted a simple way to avoid getting called back to a job site for one forgotten lock.
LockTrace is built in small batches and designed for the people who actually work with this stuff every day. Current shell is a direct fit to Masterlock's LOTO lock. Available in different colors.
